Scouting Biography:

Mel has been an adult volunteer Scouter since 2000 serving as Den Leader, Webelos Leader and Pack Committee Chairman in the Cub Scout Program and as Assistant Scoutmaster, Patrol Adviser and Committee member Troop 318.  Mel has also served on the Neuse River District Committee as Camping Chairman and currently serves as Boy Scout Roundtable Commissioner.

Mel has been an active member of his church, leading small group discussions and youth bible studies, including the God and Country program for scouting.  He is currently a member of North Raleigh United Methodist Church.

Awards and Recognitions:  Mel has received numerous recognitions during his scouting career, including the Distinguished Leadership Citation and the District Award of Merit.  He is a Brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow.
