Life-To-Eagle Process

You have achieved the rank of Life Scout - Congratulations!  Now comes the decision about going all the way to earning your Eagle rank.  But, you are asking yourself, how in the world do I get started?   Never fear, there is a well-defined path for achivieving this ominous task.  Before you do anything else, do these three things.

1. Decide if you really want to make Eagle.

Some Scouts want to and are ready to tackle the trail to Eagle Scout immediately after they make Life.  While others wait a year or more until they feel that they are ready.  There is no right way or wrong way - only the way that is best for you.  Achieving Eagle is not a competition with the other Scouts in the troop.

2. Assemble all of the materials that are recommended in the table below.

Read all of the materials that are provide for you very throroughly.  Ask questions of the Scoutmaster and the Advancement Chair.

Eagle Palms

Scouting doesn’t end after becoming an Eagle Scout! In fact, the BSA recognizes achievements beyond the Eagle Scout rank by awarding Eagle Palms representing additional merit badges at Bronze (5 badges), Gold (10 badges) and Silver (15 badges) levels.  Eagle Palm application forms can be found at http://www.scouting.org/filestore/pdf/58-709_WB.pdf

Additional requirements at these levels includes demonstrating Scout spirit by living the Scout Oath and Law in everyday life, taking part in a Scoutmaster conference, and successfully completing the board of review required at that level.
